2019/20/21 Awards entry

Well meet again…

New date: 18 May 2022, Wyscigi, Warsaw

COVID UPDATE: The bad news and the good.

The bad

With initial optimism about global rollout of a number of efficacious covid vaccines being swift and robust enough to enable a Spring 2021 return of the CEEQA Gala now fully receded, and with even an autumn date receding fast as the vaccine roll out – particularly in the EU – being far from the pre-planned shock-and-awe campaign to get the world back to life we might have been forgiven to expect, it is rapidly becoming clear that a Gala date any time this year is now receding out of view.

Therefore, with the full support and complicity of all our sponsors and partners, rather than launch the awards in the wild hope of a fitting conclusion some time later this year, then just present them online if by June it is clear a 2021 date won’t work (large international events are at the end of any covid recovery plan) , a firm decision has been taken to continue our strategy of conserving fuel, energy and time – our own and that of our delivery and commercial partners – and look to 2022 instead. Making another early call for the benefit of the market place and everyone involved.

An online Gala? Well, no. Not for CEEQA.

The good

The good news is we still have a plan, we have the wherewithal, we have the time, we have the motivation to make the combined 20/21/22 CEEQA Gala the best event yet. We were inches away from the last furlong in March 2020 and many of the ideas and plans, and funds to deliver them, were already in place. And still are, with a few tweaks.

A new date was then set for September 2020 but with many international companies announcing a ban on traveling and attending events for the remainder of this year, optimism quickly faded and a second deferral to May 2021 followed, more in hope than in confidence. With the vaccines beginning to appear in November 2020 showing high efficacy rates coupled with evident preparedness for robust roll out, a slightly later spring date enabling a respectful part-indoor/part-outdoor event suddenly looked on despite a new strain of the virus appearing in December. But no…

Trust earned

We’ve been blessed or lucky, or have earned the right and the trust over nearly two decades for our commercial and delivery partnerships, in the main, to have stood firm and on standby. The majority of our sponsors and gala customers had already paid in before the covid cloud descended suddenly and catastrophically in March 2020. and are lying in wait. In this case patience is more than just a virtue.

A few things have been put in perspective by the covid truth serum – that we all need to be better behaved towards the planet and to each other, that business performance itself is something to be grateful for #nevermindthewinning, and that getting together and having fun with colleagues and friends on the level CEEQA does it is not to be sniffed at. And that in the end this sector is a family, we’re a family with history, making history. Right?

To emphasise the point, some of you will be old enough to remember Sister Sledge at CEEQA singing their 70s hit We Are Family, if you weren’t there go here >>

We’re missing the noise – last time out was the Boomtown Rats, Pawel Debowski was Lifetime Achievement recipient, Skanska and Panattoni, CBRE, JLL and Dentons cleaned up again, Wilsons and 7R got one for the little guys and buildings High5ive, Cedet, Forum Gdansk and Raffles Europejski took the bricks and mortar honours. Intention to launch the Zabisnki Foundation was also announced. What a beautiful noise.

We will meet again, and when we do it is our pledge and our duty to deliver the best CEEQA Gala ever, as we always do… are Gloria Gaynor and Garry Kasparov still in the wings? You bet.

AWARDS LAUNCH

Having hoped for a Valentines Day launch of a two-in-one 20/21 awards on 14 February, we needed a little more time to re-calibrate arrangements to the new date, which eventually resulted in the realisation that this year won’t be possible. Far better to shut up shop and go again when the easing of the pandemic allows.

So pencil it in (to be safe), and expect some changes – for the future and ultimately we think for the far, far better – including:

  • 19/20/21 CEEQA AWARDS: January 2022, launch of entries Three in one, inevitably both the awards and the gala event will be a two-in-one deal. Two years of business performance to be judged, two galas in one. CEEQA 20/21 it will be.
  • Gala date and location: A covid respectful and climate aware change of location to the famous Wyscigi Equestrian Club racecourse in the south of Warsaw, to enable a part indoor/part outdoor experience for everyone’s comfort and safety,
  • 19/20/21 CEEQA GALA: 18 May (prospective), Wyscigi Equestrian Club, Warsaw ??
  • Health and safety:  Covid-respectful health and safety protocols from arrival to departure of carriages (yes, carriages, we have a plan).
  • Still aiming for NetZero: The plans for a world first NetZero live mass attendance event, and a world first set of awards measuring progress towards NetZero buildings and business, still holds. In many ways even more vital.

This time… more info to follow shortly. Or when we can. Until then, keep on fighting and be nice.

FAQs

Are we guaranteed to be on the short list if we entered or buy a Gala table?
No. We have worked hard with Deloitte over many years to create and sustain a truly trustable and fair industry awards for the sector where only hard business results count and no favours are shown in any way, unlike 99% of industry awards. That was our aim, along with building the best business event in history. If that doesn’t suit you then by all means go somewhere else 🙂

Is it compulsory to buy a Gala ticket to enter the awards?
Not at all, the awards are total free entry without any hooks, if entrants would like to attend the Gala in case of success, we’ll be pleased to assist. Full info on our Book Tickets page.

Do short-listed candidates get free or discounted Gala tickets?
As a rule, no. The awards are free to enter but not everything can be free, we hope the appeal and value of the CEEQA Gala speaks for itself after 16 years – and particularly for short-listed entrants. However we do make some exceptions for local companies that have never been short-listed before, just email us at info@ceeqa.com to enquire.

How many seats at a table?
Usually ten seats per table, however we can make exceptions for 11 guests with sufficient notice if an additional ticket is purchased. We don’t recommend at all trying 12 seats at a table.

If we buy a company table can we bring an advertising roll-up?
Absolutely no. Not even our biggest commercial sponsors and partners are allowed to bring roll-ups, which is what has kept the aesthetic and mood of the CEEQA Gala uniquely special.

If we buy an individual ticket, or a few individual tickets but not a whole table, where will we be seated?
You will be placed at a mixed table with care and sensitivity to your networking needs. Sponsored tables naturally get preferential location to mixed tables, and we reserve the right to seat guests appropriately according to date of booking, etc, however as we know almost everyone in the market well and who they would prefer – or prefer not – to site next to, we tend to get it right and have had very few complaints over 16 years.

What is the schedule/itinerary of the evening?
It’s very simple – the Champagne Reception starts at 7pm, followed by the Dinner & Awards Ceremony around 8.30pm, followed by the famous CEEQA After-Party from 10.30pm approx. until late. Very late.

What time does the event start?
As is widely advertised the doors open at 7pm on 22nd April for the Champagne Reception, we recommend arriving before 7.30pm to avoid a scrum at coat check and registration.

What time does the awards ceremony start?
Dinner starts at 8.30pm approx. and the awards ceremony is run concurrently during dinner, we strongly recommend arriving well before as the Champagne Reception is something not to be missed, as much as the famous CEEQA afterparty.

What time does the event end?
Very late. Certainly not before 3am.

What entertainment will there be?
The entertainment for the Gala will be announced here on the CEEQA website soon.
