The 2023 edition of the CEEQA awards will recognise all buildings delivered, and all business performance, during the previous calendar year to 31 December.
Jury composition & coverage
Jury members are selected each year according to geographical and segmental coverage on a rotation basis among senior representatives of market leading companies across 18 qualifying countries within Central & Eastern Europe and Southeast Europe.

What happens when?
There are four principal steps in the judging process:
- Jury Nominations, 24 November Following acceptance of the invitation, jurors are asked to provide their nominations of potential candidates for the year’s awards using the Jury Nominations Form.
- Online scoring round, March, 2023 (date tbc) Once all award entries have been received by nominated candidates, jury members will be invited to view them on the online CEEQA Judging System and score them according to the guidelines and criteria provided. The results from this voting round decide the eventual short list in each category, the process is overseen and monitored by Deloitte to ensure complete independence and transparency.
- CEEQA Jury Dinner, Final voting round, 13 June 2023 (6.30-10.30pm) The most highly valued annual networking gathering of sector leaders the evening preceding the CEEQA Gala includes pre-dinner cocktail, dinner and voting on the awards short list to decided the winner in each category. Hosted by leading Polish broadcaster Monika Richardson, whose moderating expertise ensures efficient and effective execution of the jury’s work, the gathering is also known for being relaxed and entertaining, with the highest quality hospitality. - CEEQA Gala & awards presentations, 14 June 2023 (7pm-Late) The sector’s most anticipated flagship annual gathering and showcase event needs no introduction. Held in Warsaw each year and attended by nearly 900 business leaders from more than 50 countries, the event’s unique blend of leadership level business value and networking as the climax of the sector’s most prized industry awards, combined with world class hospitality, production and entertainment, are unparalleled.

Alan is one of the co-founders of Wilsons and is based in the Prague office. He specializes in construction, real estate sales and acquisitions, and environmental issues, including related regulatory implications and real estate financing. He has also had extensive experience in legal issues relating to the petrochemical and energy industry. Alan has been advising developers, development companies and real estate investment funds on their projects in the CEE region for many years, and has led over 100 transactions for a worldwide food retailer in the Czech Republic. He has also assisted several important clients in the acquisition and disposal of large commercial properties. Alan is active on both the Czech and Slovak markets. Brendan has over 25 years of experience in financing Property projects including over 15 years of experience in the Polish Property market. Bryan is now Head of CEE at Dual Asset. Previously Bryan was a Partner and one of the co-founders of Wilsons (formerly Wilson & Partners). Having moved from Linklaters in London in 2001 to the Prague office of Linklaters he was appointed Head of CEE Real Estate in 2004. In 2007 he left Linklaters to set up Wilsons which has risen in stature to become one of the leading real estate law firms in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, being ranked in Tier 1 of both Chambers and the Legal 500. Bryan specialises in real estate acquisitions and divestments, joint ventures and is one of the few hotel specialists on the market. Daniel is an expert with almost 20 years of experience on the Polish real estate market and 30 years of professional experience overall. Prior to founding immo lab, he was associated with international consulting agencies for many years – first, in Colliers International, and later in JLL, where he established and managed the land investment department. Then, as Managing Partner at Knight Frank, he directly supervised not only the investment division, but also the landlord and tenant representation units. He has cooperated with more than 200 investors in the capital real estate market and developers representing all segments of the RE sector. Daniel is also involved in PropTech projects, which is supported by his competences gained at the beginning of his career in the telecommunication and new technologies sectors, where he created sales teams in Polska Telefonia Cyfrowa (Era GSM/T Mobile), Netia Telekom, and Comverse Technology. During his career he has advised on the sale of land investment throughout Poland with a total area of approximately 50 million sqm and a value of approximately PLN 5 billion. Furthermore, he has participated in the sale of companies and investment properties worth around PLN 2 billion. Dieter Knittel is Managing Director and Head of Real Estate Finance International Clients CEE at pbb Deutsche Pfandbriefbank. Dieter is responsible for the bank’s lending portfolio in the region. Between 2003 and 2008, Geo developed Europolis Logistics Park with over 230,000 sqm of prime Class A warehouse space, more than twice the size of the second largest development in the country. The project was twice awarded as Best CEE Industrial Project in 2005 and 2006 and was fully sold to an international investor in 2008. In 2007, he developed the Millennium Bank headquarters and in 2008 the Louis Blanc office building, which were sold to both local and international investors. In 2011, Geo co-founded SIX Management, a company which provides the full range of development expertise to both local and international clients. Among SIX Management’s more notable achievements were the project and cost management of the highest fully automated Frozen High Bay Warehouse in Europe, and the development of the high end residential project on Aleea Alexandru, a luxury location in downtown Bucharest, which was fully sold upon completion. Geo is currently leading the development of several high end residential properties, an art gallery as well as landmark industrial projects. Hadley has been successfully operating in Poland for over 20 years where he is recognised for growing businesses and consistently outperforming the market place. Before establishing MDC² he used to hold the role of the founding CEO of EPP – the largest owner of shopping centres in Poland (EUR 2.6bn of GAV). Prior to EPP he was a Managing Partner for Eastern Europe for Colliers International where he built the best logistics and industrial space agency business in Central and Eastern Europe. In 2021 Hadley was the recipient of the prestigious CEEQA Lifetime Achievement in Real Estate award. Highly specialized in office agency and client representation services, Horatiu has a wide breadth of property experience, gained in his 20 years’ career by advising the main developers as well as the most prominent multinational companies operating in Romania. Named ‘Most Successful Broker’ on Romania’s market, several times, Horatiu is reputed for his cutting edge and professional consultancy services to tenants, developers and investors alike. Widely acknowledged for his pre-lease expertise, Horatiu has been involved in the largest real estate office projects, having leased over 1 mil. Sq M office space. Prior to establishing the Balmain Asset Management group in 2003, James held various senior positions with Westfield over a ten-year career, culminating in establishing their European shopping centre business in London in 1998. James has been directly involved with 2.7 million sqm and EUR 10.5 billion of shopping centre assets over his thirty-one year career in real estate. James leads the strategy and investments for the Sierra Balmain business. Jeroen began working for Ghelamco in 2003 as a Managing Director for Poland and 3 years later was appointed Managing Director for Central and Eastern Europe. The Belgian developer presence in the region has since grown several times, becoming the leading and well recognised provider of modern business space within the region. Prior to joining Ghelamco, he worked in the Unilever Moscow and DTZ. In 1997 he participated in a project implemented by Rabobank in Ukraine. Jeroen is currently responsible for all of Ghelamco’s Central and Eastern European operations which comprise a portfolio of over 1m sq m. Ghelamco’s flagship project under his management is the Warsaw Spire complex, opened in 2016 in Warsaw, which is currently the largest such investment in CEE region. He majored in Business Economics at the Vrije University in Amsterdam and is a member of the prestigious Young Presidents’ Organisation. Joining S+B Gruppe AG, which is active as a real estate developer and investor, Johannes heads the activities of the group in Poland as Country Manager and oversees all hotel projects in CEE. Johannes furthermore was appointed to S+Bs Leading Team for the CEE countries. This team guides a number of major developments currently underway in Poland, Czech Republic and Romania. As Head of Central & Eastern Europe, Jonathan oversees Cushman & Wakefield’s operations across the region, with over 1100 staff in six countries (Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Poland, Russia and Turkey) and Cushman & Wakefield Alliance partners in a further nine countries across the CEE region. Jonathan is a European Executive Committee Member of Cushman & Wakefield and the Managing Partner of Cushman & Wakefield in the Czech Republic. He is a member of the RICS, IBF Board Member (International Business Forum), and BGMC Board Member. Karl Wilson is the Head of the UK & Central Europe for Aareal Bank. Karl set up the Polish operations in 2000 and took over responsibility for the UK in 2021. Prior to this Karl worked in Real Estate Banking in Germany and the UK, as well as for one of the Big 4 consultancies in their Real Estate Corporate Finance Department in Central Europe. He has a degree in Estate Management from Trinity College Dublin Ireland. Krzysztof has over 10 years of experience in the real estate and financial services. Krzysztof joined Knight Frank in 2011 after spending over 2 years in PwC having worked on audit and due diligence projects of real estate and financial sector projects. Krzysztof’s primary focus is maintaining relationships with all key industry players and sourcing new capital on the Polish real estate market. Within the team, has worked on numerous recognizable projects including acquisition and disposal of commercial buildings, debt financing and plots transactions, among others forward funding of M&G logistics portfolio with Panattoni Metsa facility in Krapkowice and numerous office transactions just to name few Andersia Business Centre, Wratislavia Centre, Pilot Tower, Warsaw Corporate Centre or Stratos office building in Warsaw. Krzysztof is currently advising on investment deals in Poland in excess of EUR 340m. Within the team, Krzysztof solely focusses on the Polish industrial, logistics and office sectors Krzysztof is responsible also for supervision of the due diligence and negotiations of the transaction terms. Krzysztof holds a reputable CCIM title. Krzysztof has worked for global real estate services firm Cushman & Wakefield for 15 years. He was appointed Head of Regional Cities in the Office Agency team in 2012 and successfully launched the Cushman & Wakefield brand in Poland’s core regional markets. In 2018, he became Head of the Office Agency. In April 2020, he took on the role of Head of Cushman & Wakefield Poland. One of the best-known professionals in the Polish commercial real estate market, Krzysztof has acted on close to 400 leases for more than 700,000 sq m. Despite market challenges during the pandemic, his strategic decisions helped to maintain and improve business profitability. With his energy and innovative management approach, he inspires not only clients and partners, but also his employees whom he treats as equals irrespective of their position within the organisation. He takes other people’s opinions seriously, but he has a clear vision of the future he would like to materialize shortly to bring a brand new quality to the Polish commercial property market. Lukáš Hejduk is a partner and Head of Real Estate, CEE in CMS. He advises on all aspects of real estate mandates including real estate M&A, construction projects, development, leasing, sale and lease-back transactions or greenfield investments. He specialises in complex property transaction and has extensive experience of acting for funds, private investors, developers, insurance providers and banks. Additionally, Lukáš heads the CEE Hotel & Leisure practice and advises on sector specific matters such as hotel management agreements. Mr. Gavryushyn started his professional career in 1998 working on various projects in marketing and sociological research. Since 2003 Mr. Gavryushyn concentrated on numerous consulting projects with focus on Ukrainian real estate market. Over his career in the real estate industry, Mr. Gavryushyn has been involved in a wide range of real estate activities including project management, research, marketing, consulting, property management, leasing, site acquisition and development. He has worked in various fields of real estate including residential, hotels, offices and shopping centers. In the year 2004 he joined Ukrainian Trade Guild, a leading Ukrainian real estate consulting and brokerage firm, where he held a position of Head of Research, Marketing and Strategic Consulting Department. During 2004-2009 he has obtained substantial experience of conducting more than 430 researches and development of more than 230 projects of residential and commercial properties in Ukraine, Russia, Moldova, Georgia. He also continued his education in ICSC School for professional development in 2007-2008. Since 2009 Mr. Gavryushyn is the Chief operating officer of Budhouse Group, leading Ukrainian investment and development company. He is responsible for development, marketing and research, leasing, property, facility and asset management of BHG properties. In 2015-2020 Mr. Gavryushyn also holds a position of Chair of the ICSC Ukrainian National Committee. . As of 2020, he has taken over as Head of the Ukrainian Council of Shopping Centers (UCSC). In 2017, 2018 and 2020, Maxim Gavryushin was named Person of the Year by the Retail & Development Business Awards. Martin advises leading investors, developers and real estate banks in structuring their investments in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and the entire Central-Eastern European region. He publishes and reports regularly about present developments in Czech and Slovak real estate law and questions concerning financing. Martin is Past Chair of the Real Estate Section of the International Bar Association and a member of the Round Table of the German Mortgage Banking Association. He is frequently recognized by Who’s Who Legal as one of the world’s leading practitioners in the field of real estate projects in the Czech Republic and is recommended by Legal 500 for both real estate and banking. Martin is admitted to the German Bar and is a member of the Czech Bar. He is also admitted to the Slovak Bar. Martin speaks German, English and Czech. Matthias has worked with Erste Group Bank AG since 2005 with a focus in real estate financing from the very beginning. In 2007 he joined the commercial real estate financing department in Erste Group. Since 2011 he is heading the International Clients Department for Commercial Real Estate Financing. The regional focus includes Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia. Matthias is Managing Director of Erste Group Bank AG. Michał has 15 years of experience with investment sales and acquisitions in CEE. Prior to taking the position of Principal, Managing Director at Avison Young in Poland, he spent 7 years at King Sturge both in London and Warsaw offices and served as Head of Capital Markets at Savills where he built up the company’s Warsaw branch. In his career, Michal has concluded investment transactions of ca. EUR 4 billion. His business achievements and leadership skills were recognized several times with market awards. Noah is the chairman and CEO of WING, the market leading office developer and one of the largest real estate companies in Hungary. He is an American citizen, he has worked in Hungary since 1990. In his current position he was responsible for establishing WING and oversees the company’s real estate investment and development businesses. Noah is a graduate of the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University, and the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna in Austria. He speaks French, German, Spanish, Hungarian and English. Pavel Streblov is Commercial Business Director in Penta Real Estate CZ with responsibility for commercial projects in Prague. He was in charge of the Waltrovka, Churchill and Smichoff projects and develops a future project pipeline of 250ths sqm. He holds degrees from Charles University and LSE and is also active as university lecturer. Petr Panek is a Czech and US law-qualified deal leader heading the CEE real estate team at White & Case. He acts for a wide range of sponsors, developers, banks and other clients on real estate matters across all market segments, with a particular focus on large ticket deals, portfolio and cross-border transactions. Over the years he has advised on some of the most significant real estate deals in CEE. Co-Managing Partner at Griffin Capital Partners. Piotr is a top Merger & Acquisition expert who has excelled in managing and executing opportunistic and value-added projects. With over 15 years of operational experience exclusively dedicated to real estate and private equity, Piotr has, from the beginning of his professional career, been associated with Griffin. His track record contains more than 100 successful transactions, with a total volume exceeding EUR 3.5 billion. Piotr completed management studies at the Warsaw School of Economics and spatial economy at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences, as well as an Executive MBA programme from the Kozminski University. Radu joined Revetas Capital in 2013 and is the Investment Director of the company. He was elected Chairman of the Romanian board of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) for two consecutive mandates. He has over 21 years of experience in investment, valuation and property agency within the CEE and Romanian market and has been involved in a wide variety of transactions. Radu was previously the Head of Capital Markets for Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) in Romania following the merger with King Sturge. He was the MD and member of the management board of King Sturge in Romania from its inception in 2005 until the merger with JLL, where his responsibility extended to investment, professional services, valuation and research. His extensive real estate experience includes investment and asset management strategy advise, investment management, equity and debt financing, valuations, and a wide spectrum of acquisitions, disposals, developments and feasibility studies. Richard started his role as Group CFO for CTP in July 2018, which includes looking after the refinancing of CTP’s portfolio of over 4.5 million sqm of premium industrial property. Prior to joining CTP, Richard ran the CRE business of Erste Group across CEE for 14 years, turning it into one of the leading CRE banking franchises. He has a Law degree from the London School of Economics. Robert is a Partner and a member of the Investment Committee at Europa Capital. Robert is the Head of Investments for the Pan-European fund series. Robert also has oversight of all acquisitions and asset management in Central Europe (Poland, Czech Republic and Hungary) and has been investing in the region for Europa Capital for over 20 years. Before co-founding Europa Capital in 1998, Robert worked at St Quintin and Herring Baker Harris in London. Robert is a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and received a BSc in Land Management from Reading University, and an MBA from the University of Cape Town, South Africa. Robert has worked in the commercial real estate industry since 1982 based in cities including London, Brussels and currently Prague and Bucharest since 1991. After an agency background with Healey & Baker in 1993 (now Cushman & Wakefield), he created the development and asset management company Portland Trust in 1998. Portland Trust has been in partnership with US property and fund management group Ares Management, L.P. (formerly AREA Property Partners) since 1999. Ares currently has assets under management of over $160 billion and provides equity capital jointly with Portland Trust to purchase development projects, under-managed assets with refurbishment potential and undercapitalised companies in central and eastern Europe. Together, Ares and Portland Trust have developed or refurbished over 800,000 m2 of commercial space in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Romania. Better known projects include Metropole Zlicin (one of the first major malls in Prague), Bucharest Business Park (the first A-class business park in Bucharest), Floreasca Park (which in 2014 won the CEEQA Office Development of the Year and the CEEQA RealGreen Building of the Year, CEEQA Green Leadership Award and CIJ Investment transaction of the year in 2015), Oregon Park (which won the CEEQA Overall Building of the Year SEE in 2018) and more recently the new ING Bank HQ, EXPO Business Park in Bucharest. Roger joined Avestus Real Estate as CEO in April, 2006 bringing more than 20 years of experience in the real estate business. From its headquarters in Prague, Roger oversees the continued development of ARE’s portfolio of residential, office and retail properties, a number of large mixed-use developments, and the company’s ongoing expansion into new territories across CEE. Prior to his current position with ARE. Roger held Managing Director and CEO positions at leading real estate entities in the UK, including: 2002–2006, Divisional Managing Director of Gleeson Homes, a wholly owned subsidiary of MJ Gleeson Group; 1999–2001, residential Managing Director at Chelverton International; 1996–1999, Managing Director, South Thames division of Countryside Properties. Roger is a member of The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). GTC has appointed Seweryna Afanasjew as Head of Asset Management in Poland. Her outstanding in-depth sector knowledge coupled with extensive experience in commercial asset management and leasing for investment funds will strengthen GTC’s market position. With Seweryna on board, the company expects the successful growth of its sustainable real estate portfolio in line with the developer’s best ESG practices. Seweryna Afanasjew has made a name in real estate as a member of the Management Board of the RICS World Europe Board, Chairman of the RICS Poland Board, member of and IFMA Poland and Polish Facility Management Council. Licensed real estate manager and broker, Seweryna has 20 years of experience in commercial real estate, including offices, shopping centers, and warehouses. Her focus area is finding and implementing modern technological solutions for real estate to increase the efficiency of the whole organization, which perfectly fits into GTC’s strategy of developing futureproof sustainable properties with a focus on the wellbeing of its immediate communities. An expert in corporate real estate and strategic facilities management in large international organizations, Seweryna started her outstanding career in 1999 at Cushman&Wakefield, followed by over 7 years as Real Estate Management Head in Citi Group. Later, Seweryna served as Asset Management Head at several real estate funds and helped build the commercial real estate portfolio of Octava Property Trust while leading their asset management and leasing team. From 2017 Seweryna managed the strategic FM area at Liberty Global as CEE Real Estate Facilities Fleet & Energy Head with 1000 lease agreements and 300,000 sq m of leased space at her disposal. This experience contributed to Seweryna becoming the founder and co-owner of 4 FM, a proptech company, which specializes in creating platforms for strategic facilities management sourcing. Sylvie Geuten-Carpentier is co-CEO of Mitiska REIM and CEO of Mitiska, which is the co-founding company of Mitiska REIM. Sylvie has over 25 years’ experience in retail and consumer business operations, having previously held senior roles at ExxonMobil and The Coca-Cola Company. She holds a degree in business engineering from KU Leuven and a master’s degree in financial management from Vlerick Business School in Ghent. Tomáš joined CPI Property Group as Director of Acquisitions, Asset Management & Sales and a Board member in June 2014. Tomáš is responsible for acquisitions and asset management of the Group’s portfolio and in addition he oversees the Group’s operating platforms in Germany, Poland and Hungary. Tomáš has 18 years of real estate experience, with five years at CPIPG, previously working 10 years for GE Real Estate CEE/Germany and ČSOB for 3 years. Tomas has an education in Economics. Tomasz Stasiak is the Co-Managing Partner of Wolf Theiss in Poland. He is also the head of the Polish Real Estate & Construction practice, which has expanded significantly since he joined the firm in 2017. Tomasz has over 20 years of professional experience on the CEE real estate market, which coincides with the growth of the modern, institutional real estate market in Poland. Tomasz has represented major international investors and developers in a number of landmark projects in Poland, Ukraine, Hungary and Lithuania. Tomasz’s experience encompasses all industry sectors, from logistics and office to retail, leisure and residential; and from land acquisition through the development process, including permitting, financing and leasing, to de-investment and portfolio transfers. Tomasz also has experience assisting international manufacturing corporations operating in Poland with respect to construction and labor matters. Lately, Tomasz has been advising on restructuring of major real estate portfolios, including re-zoning, conversion of yielding assets and forming development-focused joint ventures. Tomasz has acted as an arbitrator in real estate disputes. He cooperates on a daily basis with other Wolf Theiss offices providing unified cross-border advice. Prior to joining Wolf Theiss, Tomasz worked at other prominent international law firms in Warsaw and Kyiv. Troy is responsible for the European operations of Lincoln. The company was founded in Dallas in 1965 and is one of the largest full-service real estate companies in the United States. Lincoln has developed more than 13 million square meters of commercial projects and 220,000 multi-family residential units. Lincoln has also acquired more than $30 billion of assets since 1988 and currently manages commercial assets valued at more than $82 billion. Lincoln Europe was relaunched April 2016 and currently has offices in Prague and London, with over €1.2 billion under development. An American national, Troy Javaher was previously the Head of Capital Markets for CEE at JLL.
